The talent of survival

In 2007, Helen Newlove’s life was shattered when her husband, Garry Newlove, was brutally murdered by a gang of youths. Devastated but undeterred, Helen decided to channel her grief into action. She refused to let this tragedy define her or her family’s future.

In recognition of her campaigning tirelessly for victims’ rights Helen was made a life peer in 2010, becoming Baroness Newlove of Warrington. She continued her advocacy from the House of Lords and, in 2018, she was appointed as a Deputy Speaker. Her journey from a grieving widow to a powerful advocate and leader serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

Baroness Newlove’s story is a profound reminder that resilience can transform even the deepest and darkest pain into a force for positive change, inspiring women in business to persevere and lead with courage and compassion.
