Artificial Intelligence (AI) is advancing at extraordinary speed, but technology alone will not determine how successfully it transforms the built environment. People will.

This thinking sits at the heart of the Women in BIM Conference London 2026 and its theme, AI in Action.

Taking place on Thursday 15 October, the conference will create a space to examine not only what AI can do, but how people can use it intelligently, responsibly and effectively to improve the way our industry works.

For Women in BIM, this is an important distinction, AI can analyse information, automate processes and generate increasingly sophisticated outputs, but it cannot replace the experience, context, judgement, creativity and diversity of thinking that people bring to projects.

As AI becomes embedded into more of the technology used across the built environment, understanding that relationship between human expertise and machine capability will become increasingly important.

From listening to participating

This thinking has also influenced how the London conference has been curated by Women in BIM Global Vice Chair, Marie Grieve. Rather than creating a programme where delegates spend the day simply listening to presentations about AI, Marie has made AI in Action fully interactive.

Marie commented: “Through a series of workshops and bite size learning, the conference  will create opportunities to explore ideas collectively. Live demonstrations will show technology being applied rather than simply discussed and live debates will bring different perspectives into the room, with interactive sessions encouraging our delegates to question, challenge and contribute. The aim is to create an environment where knowledge moves in more than one direction.”

Delegates will be able to hear from people working at the forefront of AI while also bringing their own experiences, questions and challenges into the conversation, focusing on one of the most valuable questions surrounding AI today: what can this technology do?

Turning knowledge into action

For professionals across BIM, digital construction and the wider AECO industry, the pace of development can make it difficult to separate meaningful progress from noise.

The conference will provide an opportunity to step away from that noise and examine where AI is creating value now, where challenges remain and what organisations should be considering next.

Whether delegates are already implementing AI or beginning to understand what it could mean for their role, the ambition is that they leave with greater clarity, new perspectives and ideas they can take back into their own organisations

That is where AI in Action becomes more than a conference theme, it becomes a call for informed, responsible action.

An opportunity to contribute

The same principle extends to the organisations supporting the conference.

Women in BIM is seeking sponsors that want to do more than place their name alongside an event. We want organisations that can contribute knowledge, technology, experience and ideas to the conversations taking place.

With workshops, demonstrations, debates and interactive formats forming an important part of the programme, there are opportunities for sponsors to become part of the experience and demonstrate how innovation is being translated into practical application.

Sponsorship also provides direct engagement with an audience of professionals actively interested in digital construction, emerging technology and better approaches to project delivery.

Most importantly, it is an opportunity to support Women in BIM in creating a platform where different voices can participate in one of the most significant technological shifts our industry has experienced.

The future of AI is not written by algorithms. It is shaped by the conversations we have today. Full agenda and keynote speakers announcements coming soon.

Join us in London on October 15th to be part of what happens next. Tickets are available now and sponsorship opportunities remain open.
