Women in BIM will join UK Construction Week Birmingham, taking place at the NEC from 29 September to 1 October 2026, bringing its digital expertise, industry network and focus on a more connected built environment to this year’s programme.

This year, UK Construction Week Birmingham is centred around The Construction RESET, bringing the industry together to address what needs to change and how construction can respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead. Built around Building Better, Building Smarter and Building Responsibly, the RESET will focus on the practical action, innovation and collaboration needed to create a stronger, more resilient industry.

Digital transformation will be central to that change. As construction works towards increasingly ambitious net zero targets, the ability to access, share and use reliable information throughout the whole life of an asset is becoming increasingly important.

Through its partnership with UK Construction Week, Women in BIM will bring that conversation to the Digitalisation & AI Stage, exploring one of the barriers preventing the industry from realising the full potential of digital construction: missing and disconnected data.

On Tuesday 29 September, from 10:30 to 11:15, Women in BIM will host The Missing Data Problem: Unlocking Digital Whole Life for Net Zero.

The panel will examine why construction projects continue to struggle to access the sustainability data needed to support net zero ambitions and how a digital whole life approach could help bridge the gaps between different stages, teams and systems.

Rather than simply identifying the problem, the session will explore practical steps the industry can take to improve data quality, strengthen collaboration and use information more effectively to support better whole life performance.

Joining the discussion will be Hadeel Saadoon, Digital Construction Technical Lead at Connected Places Catapult; Kathryn Donald, Director, Digital Design & Building Performance Modelling and Partner at Max Fordham; Lilian Ho, Associate Director – Digital & BIM, UK+I Architecture + Design at AECOM; and Mohammed Shana’a, CEO & Co-Founder of Morta.

Bringing together perspectives from across digital construction, design, building performance and technology, the panel will explore where information is being lost, why greater connectivity matters and what needs to change to make better use of data throughout an asset’s lifecycle.

The conversation reflects a wider challenge facing construction. Digitalisation is not simply about adopting more technology; it is about making sure the information being created can be trusted, shared and used to make better decisions.

For Women in BIM, that also means ensuring the people driving construction’s digital transformation are connected and represented. Through its international network, the organisation supports women working across BIM and digital construction while championing greater diversity and inclusion throughout the sector.

Its partnership with UK Construction Week will bring that expertise and perspective into the wider industry conversation, connecting the people driving digital change with the challenges construction needs technology to help solve.

As the industry looks to Build Smarter and Build Responsibly, improving the way data is managed across the whole life of buildings will be critical to turning digital and net zero ambitions into measurable outcomes.
