It’s one of the main reasons why our support of Women in BIM (WiB) was such a no-brainer.

One of the milestones in Beca’s digital journey has been our achievement of the ISO 19650-2 certification, an international standard for information management using BIM processes throughout the lifecycle of built assets. Achieving this standard has been a game-changer for how we deliver projects and manage projects and further aligns us to the core values of WiB. For our people, it adds clarity and consistency to the way information is managed, not just during design but across the entire asset lifecycle.

For our clients, this certification proves we bring tangible benefits such as streamlined processes, increased project cost and time transparency, faster delivery, and greater collaboration with stakeholders. Our dedication to upskilling the industry and our clients was shown where we partnered with leading industry training provider Operam Academy, where we hosted a three-day in-person “Information Management Bootcamp” at our Auckland headquarters for a range of Kiwi clients.

Equally vital has been a focus on developing a more inclusive construction industry, an aspiration that aligns strongly with the goals of Women in BIM (WiB). We actively seek to attract and encourage more women into digitally focused careers by empowering female leaders in digital engineering, providing mentorship opportunities and highlighting diverse career pathways to encourage the next generation of women entering the field.

We’re also delighted to have Emma Mannion, Manager Digital Engineering Advisory as Regional Lead for Women in BIM (WiB) in New Zealand. Emma has already been making her mark alongside fellow Kiwi leaders, delivering successful networking events and educational opportunities. Emma’s passion for empowering others and supporting diversity is certainly shining through as she continues to strive for a more inclusive future.
